Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) can be used as part of an in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment to help you and your partner conceive a child.

ICSI is the most successful form of treatment for men who are infertile and is used in nearly half of all IVF treatments.

ICSI only needs one sperm, which is injected directly into the egg. The fertilised egg (embryo) is then transferred to your womb (uterus).

Blastocyst culture and transfer is a technique developed for in vitro fertilization (IVF). This procedure intends to maximize pregnancy rates while minimizing the risk of multiple pregnancies. Embryos are typically cultured for 3 days (cleavage stage with 4-10 cells) before being transferred into the uterus.


IMSI – Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection : carried out under a special microscope under close magnification. The morphologically best sperm are then used for micro-manipulative fertilisation.

PICSI – Preselective Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection :  PICSI is a technique that simulates the natural selection of mature sperm. The principle of this method is the cultivation of mature sperm in a specially treated dish, to which a gel containing hyaluronan is applied. The sperm selected are then used for micro-manipulative fertilisation.


Laserassisted hatching can turn around a history of failure for embryos to implant themselves in the uterine wall. Assisted hatching is used to help the embryo hatch from its protective outer shell, the zona pellucida, and promote implantation in the uterine wall after embryo transfer.


Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is a procedure used prior to implantation to help identify genetic defects within embryos created through in vitro fertilization to prevent certain diseases or disorders from being passed on to the child.  Read more


Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction that helps intended parents (IPs) start families when they otherwise could not. Intended parents pursue surrogacy for several reasons and come from different backgrounds. All intended parents work with a gestational surrogate, a woman who carries a child to term.


Egg donation is the process by which a woman donates eggs to enable another woman to conceive as part of an assisted reproduction treatment or for biomedical research. For assisted reproduction purposes, egg donation typically involves in vitro fertilization technology, with the eggs being fertilized in the laboratory; more rarely, unfertilized eggs may be frozen and stored for later use.

Embryo donation is a form of third party reproduction. It is defined as the giving—generally without compensation—of embryos remaining after one couple’s in vitro fertilisation to either another person or couple for implantation or to research.  Read more


Everyone’s reasons will be different, but their goal is the same. Women who freeze their eggs are looking to maximize their chance of having a healthy baby when they are ready.

For some women, age is a factor. Once a woman reaches 28, her chance of conception declines every year. As the chance of conception declines the likelihood of her eggs having chromosomal abnormalities increases, as does her chance for miscarriage. Laparoscopy is a surgery that uses a thin, lighted tube put through a cut (incision) in the belly to look at the abdominal organs or the female pelvic organs . Laparoscopy is used to find problems such as cysts, adhesions, fibroids , and infection. Tissue samples can be taken for biopsy through the tube (laparoscope).
Hysteroscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to look inside your uterus in order to diagnose and treat causes of abnormal bleeding. Hysteroscopy is done using a hysteroscope, a thin, lighted tube that is inserted into the vagina to examine the cervix and inside of the uterus.  Read more
